Police release photos of arrested journalist, Daniel Elombah, in handcuff
Yesterday, men from Federal State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), stormed the home of online journalist, Daniel Elombah in Nnewi, Anambra state and arrested him, his four brothers and 2 other relatives. According to his family members, David who is based in the UK, came in to Nigeria to celebrate the yuletide.
Although the police is yet to state the reason for his arrest, they released photos of him after he was made to appear before an Abuja Judicial Division earlier today. The Facebook post says the court granted the police permission to detain him for 14 days while investigations continue.
”Live at the Area Court of Justice of the FCT, in the Abuja Judicial Division, Holden at Abuja. In the matter of an application by commissioner of police for an order of the Honorable Court to remand the Respondent’s in prison custody for a period of 14 days pending the completion of police investigation and filing a former charge. However, the judge granted only seven (7) days to the police to complete their investigations and file a former charge on the 9th January, 2018” the post read
